Our Story

Michael graduated from UCD Veterinary College in 1983 and has spent the past 40 years in veterinary clinical practice, predominantly working with horses. Michael has travelled the world, working in Ireland, UK, USA, France, Australia, New Zealand and also a short stint managing a stud farm in Japan! Michael has been an assistant, a partner and an owner of veterinary practices and has the unusual distinction of having sold three practices he owned. Michael is also a dual Certificate holder in Equine Stud Medicine and Equine Orthopaedics from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and was admitted, by examination, as a Member of the Australasian College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Surgery.

When Michael was working in clinical practice, he developed an interest on the impact of infrastructural projects and industrial developments on horses living in close proximity. EVC was formed with it's main emphasis on equine welfare. To remain current in the constantly evolving world of Equine Welfare, Michael is currently a post graduate student in Edinburgh University, studying Equine Behaviour and Welfare. When Michael ceased veterinary clinical practice, he found his expertise and experience in demand by colleagues and animal owners alike and decided to expand the services that EVC could offer. Thanks to his extensive world wide experience, Michael has access to a global network of experts who he can refer to when needed.

Judith Curran worked with Allied Irish Bank Plc for 28 years, rising to managerial level before she changed career to take up a role as veterinary practice manager in Beechwood Vets, a small animal practice in Dublin.
